Battle Of The Playmakers - Which Real Madrid Star Would Fit In Best At Manchester United?

Manchester United are in desperate need of a central midfielder or two, we know that. But with a host of big money names already deciding to either stay put or move elsewhere, options are running out. It has come to light, according to ESPN, that the next two names on the list are Real Madrid's Mesut Ozil and Luka Modric. But who would fit better into the Red Devils squad?

First thing is first, either of these sides coming into Old Trafford would boost their hopes for the title.

Modric is your typical playmaker, ghosting in central positions, making space for himself and destroying defences with his incredible passing ability. His 88% pass completion last season was the highest at the club, while he also created the third most chances for his colleagues (56).

The former Tottenham man only scored three goals but was used in a deeper role last term, with Angel Di Maria, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ozil taking the more offensive roles. With Michael Carrick sitting in the holding role it would allow Modric a freedom to push forward and create, a role in which he flourishes.

Over to his colleague, Mesut Ozil. Traditionally a wider player, the Germany international tends to float inside and spark attacks. His 91 chances created surpassed anything that anyone else at the club mustered and his nine goals isn't too shabby either.

However, in the areas United have Ashley Young, Shinji Kagawa, Wilfried Zaha, Antonio Valencia and Nani. And although he is also suited to a more central role, you feel the widemen already at the club could hinder his talent.

Verdict: Modric would be the better suited at Manchester United.
