Could the man to fire Arsenal to silverware be under their nose? (video)

All the shenanigans regarding Arsene Wenger and his search for a striker has lead to Arsenal fans feeling frustrated. Gonzalo Higuain will officially be announced as a Napoli player today despite a move to the Emirates looking nailed on, and Liverpool are trying their best to bat away the Gunners' interest in Luis Suarez. But could the forward that they are looking for be under their nose.

No, I am not talking about Gervinho. But Olivier Giroud, who has been in blistering form in pre season. The Frenchman has hit five goals in three games so far, including a hat-trick against Vietnam, and is staking his claim for a forward spot next season.

The situation is similar to the teacher of a class asking anyone who wants to read aloud, while the kid in specs at the front waves his arm ferociously to try and get the said teacher's attention.

Whether or not he will get it is another story.

The 26-year-old hit 11 goals in 34 games last season for the Gunners while also creating 34 chances but he has been widely dismissed as the man to fire the club to silverware next season.

    Could it be, Gooners?

Yes Giroud I feel will score many goals this season. However in our past title winning teams we have had 2-3 world class strikers in the team. I f Giroud gets extra attention we need some1 else to bang the goals in consitently. Suarez if obtained will score a lot of goals and he also provides many assists as well.

We actually have lots of potential scorers in that team, namely

    - Giroud ---- should target 20 goals this season
    - Walcott ----- should do at least 20 goals as well

    - Poldi and Cazola ---- should hit at least 15 goals

However having said this, a team should have more than one option for the central striker position and neither Poldi nor Walcott are out and out central strikers who can thrive in the EPL.

    Just my views!
