    Tottenham ready to raid Porto

For Porto it might just be time to start battening down the hatches and going into hibernation, given that they have already lost two of their key players and the transfer window has only just creaked open. To make things worse The Metro are reporting that one of their former favourite sons could be the next in line to raid the Portugese giants, with reports indicating that Jackson Martinez is amongst Tottenham's top targets.

Martinez has been in irresistible form since since he joined Porto contributing 26 goals in his debut season for the club and in the process elapsing the likes of Hulk and Falcao who have once been before him. That form has not gone unnoticed in London and he would be a perfect option for a Spurs side who to say were over reliant on Gareth Bale's goals last term is an understatement. Emmanuel Adebuyor failed to get near the form that won him a contract with the club in the first place and on the large part many were left wondering quite how he had made it is a Premier League footballer at all. Jermain Defoe did at least fair better but his goals came in fits and starts and to go further Spurs will need a more a consistent threat.

That man could turn out to be Martinez if this story turns out to be more than one of a seemingly endless number of stories linking AVB with yet another Porto player. Should they manage to get the highly rated striker, it would quite remarkably take spending on Colombians to over £100m, a quite remarkable feight which highlghts the nations growing stature.

As for Porto whilst you might wonder how they will possibly recover from the loss of another star name, you should fear not for this is a club with a talent generator like no other.
