Arsenal forward recommends Ligue 1 star

Oliver Giroud might just be short of fiends if reports on ESPN Soccernet are to believed which indicate the striker feels that former Montpellier team mate Younes Belhanda would be an ideal target for Arsenal.

The pair formed a highly successful partnership during their time together and following a slightly difficult debut season in England it seems Giroud is hoping that his old mate can get the best form out of him once again. Belhanda is likely to be available this summer given that  the relationship between the Moroccan and his current club have turned more than a little bit frosty following him failing to leave the club during the previous window.

Arsenal would if reports are true have to compete with rivals Tottenham for the players signature, although winning the race for Champions League football and the Giroud factor should give them more than enough bargaining tools. The winger who has contributed 22 goals over the last two French seasons has been heavily linked to a host of clubs in recent times and his signature would provide the Gunners with extra a consistent option out wide, whilst his scoring record would also relieve some pressure on Giroud.

Giroud having been scrutinised this season given his unrealistic comparison as the replacement to Robin Van Persie would certainly welcome his partner in crime at the club given he will be looking to kick on, that said it is worth noting that if the Frenchmen follows in the second season footsteps of other striking imports from France he could yet shock a few people.
