Mezut Ozil: the power of the nutmeg (Video)

If you don't know about Mezut Ozil then you should definitely get to know.

One of the key factors in Germany's incoming international dominance, the young German has been commander-in-chief at the heart of Real Madrid's midfield for a number of years now and is continually showing strong signs of development and maturity.

It wouldn't be inaccurate to call Ozil one of the best ball handlers in European football today and when you are cherry picked by a manager like Jose Mourinho you know there must be a something special in your game.

Following an outstanding showing in the 2010 Wolrd Cup, Ozil's stock rose, as did many who were apart of that German World Cup squad, and he was snapped up by Real Madrid from Werder Bremen for a sum somewhere in the region of £15m.

It is not often that compilation videos are based on a player's ability to nutmeg opponents but such is Ozil's proficiency in the art that someone decided to make one of those fancy YouTube videos in honour.

The nutmeg is one of the most humiliating pieces of skill a footballer can administer on one of their opponents and it is clear that Ozil has a fine sense of humour as he enjoys making other players look rather average.

As the old adage goes, though, if you've got it, flaunt it and Oziil certainly does that. In the coming years you will be hard pressed to find a better midfield player than the one Ozil will no doubt become. He has only hit the tip of his iceberg and will develop into one of the best midfielders of his generation.
