Liverpool and Tottenham locked in battle of Belgian

How long can the seemingly endless line of Belgium talent last you might find yourself asking - given the remarkable number of quality players the relatively tiny nation has brought England's top flight over the last year or two.

According to The Metro there will no let up this summer in regards to players from Europe's fastest rising power making the short trip across the channel, with Toby Alerweireld the latest player to be attracting large scale premiership attention. Reports indicate that Tottenham are keen to add to their growing influx of Belgium talent, whilst Liverpool - seemingly open to a move for any decent defender if the gossips are to be believed, also in the hunt.

The Ajax man has boosted both clubs with the statement that he would favour a move to either England or Germany, rather than Italy or Spain. The Reds are on the hunt for a defender given the retirement of club legend Jamie Carragher and Alderweireld would be an ideal candidate given that at 24 and having served several successful years at Ajax he has more than served his experience apprenticeship. As for Spurs a centre-back is also high up on their wish list given they were more than a little stretched last term and whilst Younes Kaboul should return from injury to bolster the backline there are many who would say a quality centre back addition is almost as important as a striker.

Alderweireld is certainly like to generate interest from elsewhere to given there are few attributes that you would want in a centre-back that he does not posses - further to that any player who is up for grabs and is a fully fledged member of the Belgium starting XI is always going to be hot property given their current strength. It is incredible to think that this is a nation whose best player not so long ago was Emile Mpenza, oh how times have changed...

Your article mentions the Metro and the guy with the stupid haircut makes up stories. Credible sites don't fall for it.
