Manchester City closing in on £27m Spain international

Manuel Pellegrini despite allegedly denying that he was going to be the new Manchester City manager has apparently informed...someone that he wishes to make Isco his first signing.

The Mail reports that the 21-year-old playmaker’s father has already held talks with City chief exec Ferran Soriano with a view to thrashing out a deal.

If as we’re led to believe there is no agreement in place with Pellegrini then it’s pretty surprising how quickly this has moved along.

The player himself is apparently happy at the club but aware of their current financial plight accepts that he will probably have to be sold.

Real Madrid are also said to be interested in Isco who has a £27million buyout clause written into his contract, much more reasonable than usual £178million triggers that you generally see in place these days.

Pellegrini who told reporters on the May 31st 2009 that nobody from Real Madrid had spoken to him regarding the manager’s job, only to be installed as their manager on 2nd June 2009, is someone who’s every action appears shrouded in denial.

Malaga after apparently saying he could leave at the end of the season are now denying that they ever said that.

The expectation is that the 59-year-old Chilean will be next manager at the Etihad and I wonder how soon before we’re all going to be pining for the honesty of Mancini.
