Manchester United ready to offer for £10m defender with 68% tackle success

With rumours aplenty regarding Manchester United as we all gear up for the first summer in 26 years that Sir Alex Ferguson won't be doing the summer signings at Old Trafford, the Sun are reporting that David Moyes is ready to swoop for a centre-back he has worked closely to for a number of years now.

Phil Jagielka has been the heartbeat of the Everton defense for a while know and has been part of the England set up also, but with him turning 31 this year is another aging defender what the champions need?

Rio Ferdinand has been around so long that he is close to growing into his enormous lips, and Nemanja Vidic has seemingly been injured for the last decade. With that in mind, and with Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling all fighting for a place in the starting lineup, why would the United chiefs part with a hefty £10m fee for Jagielka?

Yes, he is a quality player, and yes he has the ability to play at the very top. But with almost zero resale price after a few years there are surely better assets to inject your money into.
