Odemwingie likely to be leaving West Brom

After a rough, rough couple of months at the Baggies, West Brom manager Steve Clarke has speculated that his future will be confirmed in the summer and when asked if the Nigerian forward will be a West Brom player next season, replied with “I don’t think so.”

Since joining from Lokomotiv Russia back in 2010 for £2.5 million and making over a 100 appearances for West Brom, he tried to engineer a move to QPR in the January transfer window by driving to Loftus Road during the closing hours of the window but was denied entry to the ground. This obviously led to an expected fall out from the West Brom faithful and has had limited playing time since and came off the bench this weekend during the 4-0 defeat to Norwich.

With the last 4 months of his footballing career being described as “the worst time of his life” by Peter and was fully prepared to pay £1 million of his own money to see the deal in January pushed through, he claims that the only reason why he travelled to London was because he believed that the deal had all been done.

With a chorus of boos and jeers whenever he is on the field, I don’t think anyone can begrudge him a move away from West Brom now, but his conduct which led to him wanting the move, can you really blame the fans for his actions? I personally don’t see why he would want to go from West Brom to a struggling QPR in January and with Junior Hoilett refusing a move in the other direction. I’m guessing it’s a wages thing, as I cannot see any other reason for wanting to leave a club in the top half for a languishing team near the bottom as best.
