    Michael Owen deserves credit (video)

Please note that 'Michael Owen deserves credit' is nothing to do with his current financial status.

As we have heard by now, Michael Owen this week announced that he'll be hanging up his boots at the end of the season.

For many twitter-ers this was a chance to tweet the likes of the following:

'I FORT OWENS CAREER ENDED SIX YEARS AGO' or 'WOT? OWEN STILL PLAYS FOOTBALL?'.

But for those of us who aren't born with endless buckets of comical/witty tweets, we look at his career as a whole and celebrate what was a terrific one it was.

Some players wouldn't achieve what Owen did in one year, in their entire careers. For christ's sake, the man won a Balon d'Or.

Yes, his time at Manchester United, Newcastle and currently Stoke may've not gone to plan, but after watching Football Focus, he's the first to admit it.

But before injury plagued his career, he was unstoppable.

Liverpool, Real Madrid and most notably England.

Nevertheless, further to these reports, Owen has openly admitted he doesn't want to leave the game in it's entirety.

He hasn't ruled out managing/coaching and has admitted agreeing to partake in punditry next season.

I for one wish Michael all the best in what he does in the future.

In his peak, he was one of the most wonderful strikers England and maybe even the world has ever seen.

I leave you with a heart-warming, tear jerking, quite tacky, Michael Owen montage - I thank you.

    JUDAS!!

Your right Owen is a Judas and a disgrace to football. He turned his back on the club and fans that loved him when he joined Manure. Dust into the wind. Forget about this traitor he will not be remembered , or worshiped among the greats. Bye Owen, who???
