Andros Townsend will live up to his potential

During Tottenham Hotspur's 2-1 win over Arsenal back in 2010, Danny Rose understandably stole the limelight. He may not have impressed the home fans during his 45 minute cameo that evening, but his volley from the edge of the 18 yard box was to be voted as goal of the season and deservedly so.

Since that thunderous strike almost three years ago, many had expected to see Rose push on and regularly challenge for a starting role at White Hart Lane, only to see his career stall through a combination of injury and a lack of playing time and, as such, the winger now plies his trade with Sunderland, until the end of the season anyway.

However, one player who certainly looks to be living up to his potential is wideman Andros Townsend. The 21-year-old has wowed all those that have seen the youngster play following his loan spell with Queen's Park Ranger and it's no surprise to see him win the plaudits, especially having scored a superb long range effort during the 3-1 weekend win over Sunderland – his first in the Premier League.

There have been suggestions that has career could stall at Spurs after the prominent rise of Gareth Bale at White Hart Lane, but his short term move to QPR will only benefit himself and the north London side. With Aaron Lennon currently sidelined for Andre Villas-Boas' side, they could've certainly utilised a player of his calibre during the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
