    Remembering Davor Suker (Video)

World Cup 1998 is one of my favourite football memories.

It was a great tournament which had fantastic goals and a brilliant France national team that went on to win the whole thing.

But it was Croatia who surprised many and Davor Suker was the spearhead of an exciting team. He won the Golden Boot and was second, behind Ronaldo, in the voting for the tournament's most outstanding player.

Suker's international exploits are impressive but his goalscoring record at club level is rather good too. 76 goals for Sevilla and 38 for Real Madrid in La Liga.

In the latter stages of his career he popped up in the Premier League for Arsenal and West Ham where he still chipped in with goals.

Anyway, here are ten of his best.

He was massive flop for Arsenal. I think he was one of the first to start inspiring people to call the number 9 shirt cursed? Is that right? Maybe not lol, must Google it.

He wasn't a flop at Arsenal at all, his strike rate was something like one in two there. However he was getting on at the time and arrived at the same time as Henry, and when he did play he annoyed Wenger by making too many runs as an authodox striker rather than a target man which was what Wenger wanted from him.

    Damn fine player
