Why Fulham Should Reject Berbatov Exit Talk

It seems laughable that a football player who is worth so much but offers so little into the club should be allowed to pack his bags and leave when times get tough. Dimitar Berbatov's form has been nonexistent this season but as his contract runs out in the summer he is apparently looking to move on in the new year. But how should Fulham play it?

For me, Berbatov shouldn't be allowed to leave. It could be a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face, but the Bulgarian is part of the reason why the London side are in this mess so he should be made to stay round and help clear it up.

The former Manchester United man scored 15 league goals last season but his only goal of the campaign this time round was against lowly Crystal Palace. His link up play with his team-mates is sluggish, his ability in the air has dissolved and the way he creates space for himself in the box is now, on many occasions, harmless.

If I was manager of Fulham, there is no way that I would let Berbatov just stroll out of Craven Cottage, although the hierarchy may have something to say about losing him on a free.
