10 Things We Learned From This Weekend's Premier League Action

After the 12th weekend of Premier League action, here are 10 things that we learned from this weekend's action.

    1) Arsenal really are contenders

The Gunners saw off Southampton on Saturday in a convincing 2-0 win to stretch their lead at the top of the table to four points after the 12 games that have been played.

    2) Cardiff love Wales

The Bluebirds' snatched a late point against current Champions Manchester United to add them to the list of teams they won points off at home. Manchester City, Swansea and Everton are also on the list.

    3) City not to be outgunned

City hammered Tottenham 6-0 at home on Sunday to ensure they go into round 13 with the strongest goal difference (+22).

    4) Panic stations at Tottenham

Following the thumping from City there has been a complete panic across north London. There have been outbursts on Twitter, numerous comments from pundits regarding their season and I await the tabloids going mad.

    5) Refereeing is a difficult job

There was a huge number of controversial decisions made over the weekend, including Wes Brown's sending off and the lack of red card shown to Wayne Rooney after kicking out.

    6) Newcastle on the rise

It's now three wins on the bounce for Newcastle and they currently sit eighth in the league, above the likes of Spurs and just two points outside the top four.

    7) Palace are in with a shout of survival

Their 1-0 win at Hull has seen them close the gap to 17th to just three points. With Tony Pulis coming into steady the ship the Londoners life is finally looking a bit brighter.

    8) Jol's head is wanted

Fulham fans are growing frustrated of the Cottagers' dire form as they now sit just three points off the bottom. It's now four losses in a row for Fulham.

    9) West Ham need reinforcements up top

Chelsea travelled to Upton Park this weekend and battered West Ham in a 3-0 win. Sam Allardyce's men struggled to really threaten in any way. He quickly needs Andy Carroll to return from injury.

    10) Goalscorers in form

Sergio Aguero, Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez, Alvaro Negredo and Wayne Rooney all hit the target this weekend, as did Olivier Giroud, Loic Remy and, err, Barry Bannan.
