A Statistical Look At Manchester United's 9 Man Shortlist

After the Daily Mail reported a story suggesting that David Moyes has a nine-man shortlist for the January transfer window, we have found a few stats for each player.

    1) Marco Reus

The Germany international is one of the most creative players in European football right now and has scored seven goals in his 12 Bundesliga games. He can play anywhere in the attacking midfield areas and created 38 chances this season.

    2) Ilkay Gundogan

Reus' team-mate Gundogan is a box-to-box player who is currently sidelined with a back problem. Last season he scored three goals and made 18 key passes in his 28 league games, while completing 87% of his passes.

    3) Marcelo

The Real Madrid left-back has played eight La Liga games this season and created 12 chances, more than Gareth Bale. He is a rapid player who has won 80% of his tackles and 73% of his take ons.

    4) Luke Shaw

The Southampton teen has played nine Premier League games so far this term, winning 77% of his tackles and averaging six defensive actions per game. Shaw is still only 18 and is seen as the long term successor at left-back at Old Trafford by many.

    5) Alberto Moreno

Another left-back now in the shape of Sevilla defender Moreno. He has completed 19/26 of his tackles, 24/38 of his take ons and 46% of his headers.

    6) Angel Di Maria

With two goals in the Champions League and another in La Liga, Di Maria is having a good season. He has also created 30 chances in the two competitions combined.

    7) Luka Modric

The former Tottenham man flourished at the Santiago Bernabeu last season in the second half of the campaign, and this season he has made 22 key passes in 13 appearances.

    8) Fabio Coentrao

The left-back that Moyes supposedly missed out on in the summer has only played four games this season, winning just 1/5 of his headers, completing 0/3 of his take ons and committing 11 fouls.

    9) Cesc Fabregas

The Barcelona midfielder has played 12 La Liga games, making 24 key passes and scoring four goals. He has also completed 85% of his passes and accrued a shot accuracy of 71%.
