Would Arsenal fans welcome Robin van Persie back?

I saw someone on Twitter ask a question that could divide the entire Arsenal fan base. Whilst having the potential to be a stroke of genius, it could also leave a bitter taste in the mouth for a large percentage of supporters.

The question was "Would you have Robin van Persie back at Arsenal?", and it left me thinking about every pro and con surrounding the Dutch striker. Now, I'm a loyal Arsenal fan and have been for years upon years, but I don't think I'm blind with loyalty to a huge extent and I think it provides me with the right to comment on these sort of things. I want the best for the club I love, but if I was given the choice between Cameron Jerome or RVP and they both wanted to join Arsenal, I know who I would choose in a heartbeat without giving a monkey's about what's happened in the past.

RVP has not really set the world a alight this season unlike his previous two seasons, where he has arguably been the best player in the Premier League. Reasons why he has struggled this season are unclear, but Manchester United themselves haven't really been firing on all cylinders and RVP has really lived up to his Dutchness by apparently falling out with David Moyes. The pros surrounding RVP include he is probably the best centre forward in the world on his day, which is easy enough to recognise. But, on the flip-side of the argument, maybe this is one year too many for the centre-forward and all those seasons where he has carried injuries have caught up with him. Knowing my luck, we'd re-sign him and he'd just be a broken mess and become so frail he could join Abou Diaby on the treatment table.

I think he would be worth a punt, though, as he's just not the right fit in Moyes' system and still has the capability to tear it up at the highest level. I'm not sure if he'd want to even come back to Arsenal, but I'll be waiting for him, much like an ex-girlfriend who can't move on.

if it could happen i would love him back could you imagine him with ozil and cazorla assisting. also it would effectively put man.u out cl qualification. that would be worth it alone. aswell as the fact that he is probably the most technically gifted striker around lr have we all forgotten that. never gonna happen anyway

RVP has just bought a close to 12 million quid home in Manchester, that looks like permanency to me.

Good because we don't want him back anyway.

    Dave

There is no way back for RVP, nor should there be. He publicly questioned the club's ambitions, and as club captain, I can't think of a much more disrespectful way to treat the loyal fans, or his employers (who, incidentally, made him a millionaire several times over whilst he was on the injury table).

    Poor form, Robin. Poor form.

As a Gooner since 35 years I can only say one thing: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!
How many seasons sidelined with injuries, wages paid, one good season and then jumping off ?
That's what you simply call a traitor and a CUNT.

I agree with the last comment ! He's a cunt

a cunt but a top class player. if he scored crucial goals against spurs man ciy chelsea man utd and liverpool i would forgive him. by th way regular gooner since the 70's

the traitor should rot in manchester,he should not be welcomed back, even if he pays to play for the gunners

Anyone who, in spite of the past insult at the hands of that ingrate, still has the capacity to forgive and take back Van Persie IS A CUNT TOO.

no way.......he can stay in Manchester.

    Yes but it won't happen.

    never.
