Why Swapping Nani For Midfielder With 94 International Caps Could Be Perfect For Manchester United

Nani's Manchester United stint has been a strange one. The Portugal international signed at the club in 2007 and was slapped with the label as the next Cristiano Ronaldo, which is laughable right now, and won over fans with his dynamic displays. However, last season was a year to forget for the Portugal international as he made just 11 bit-part appearances. David Moyes' arrival at the club was followed by a five-year deal for the winger, rather surprisingly, and it would seem that his Old Trafford career would continue from a clean slate.

However, the Express are reporting that he is a target for ex-Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini as he looks to mould his own squad after taking over at Galatasaray.

This is where it gets juicy. Although it claims that Chelsea are interested in securing a deal for Gala midfielder Wesley Sneijder, it also suggests that United are interested in using Nani as a makeweight in a deal to draft the Netherlands international into the club.

The move would certainly seem a sensible one, if not perfect.

United are supposedly still on the search for a central midfielder, and who would be better than a man who has almost 400 caps between Ajax, Real Madrid, Inter and current club Galatasaray, as well as 94 caps for Holland?

His range of passing would compliment Michael Carrick's, and he also has the creativity needed to play in a more advance area of the pitch.

He can also score goals. Tom Cleverley netted just twice last season and has hit to score this time round, while Sneijder has almost 100 career goals from his aforementioned clubs.

The 29-year-old has averaged 40 passes per Champions League game this season and has completed 67/80 altogether.

They will get rid of Nani, also. Win-win!
