Top5: Dirtiest Players In The Premier League This Season

The Premier League has a reputation for being a rough and ready league which concentrates on passion and a physical edge. Here are five players who have taken that too far:

    1) Mathieu Flamini - Arsenal

The Frenchman has looked like a shrewd signing by Arsene Wenger so far as he continues to staple the Gunners' midfield together. However, his determination to strip the opposition of possession as caused him to concede quite a few fouls. He has so far picked up four yellows in just five games.

    2) Lucas Leiva - Liverpool

The Brazilian has also got four bookings, but in six appearances. Lucas is a simple player - breaking down opponent attacks and releasing the ball to the more attacking options in the side - but he is also a niggly player.

    3) Ashley Westwood - Aston Villa

The young midfielder is still learning his trade in the English topflight and has picked up three bookings so far this term in five games. Villa are starting to see the results of the seeds Paul Lambert planted last season and he is essential to their progress.

    4) Yusef Mulumbu - West Brom

The Baggies' midfield enforcer has had a fine season so far but he has been booked on three occasions in his seven appearances.

    5) Michael Carrick - Manchester United

The United and England man is the ultimate pass-master, but playing in the central areas has its price, as you can tell by the list. Carrick has received three yellows in seven games so far this term.
