5 Players Who Are Wasted at Arsenal This Season

Arsene Wenger, who has had his critics in the last couple of years, seems to have finally produced a team that is able to win matches and make a genuine push for the EPL title.

The inclusion of a few youngsters breaking through and the signings made in the summer has pushed some players out of the mix.

Here are 5 players I believe are being/will be wasted at Arsenal this season:

    1) Thomas Vermaelen

Vermaelen is of course club captain at Arsenal, so would be hard to lose him for team morale, but the Belgian has really struggled for game time at the Emirates lately and Vermaelen in his own right is a class defender who deserves to start. Especially if you consider that Vermaelen is involved with the Belgium set up at the moment, who have recently confirmed their place at next summers World Cup. The defender may be overlooked if he doesn’t start getting regular first team football, and that may not be at Arsenal.

    2) Nicklas Bendtner

In reality the big Dane has been out of the fold at Arsenal for a couple of seasons now and was loaned out to Juventus last term.

This season he has only made 1 substitute appearance in the EPL in the 1-1 draw away to West Brom. In the summer he looked set to leave Arsenal permanently, but nothing developed in the end.

Although Bendtner may not be starting quality at Arsenal, he can certainly offer something to somebody and I believe the best move for both parties is a fresh start at a new club.

    3) Nacho Monreal

Monreal had a good season last year after joining from Malaga, in January 2013 but has yet to start a game this season for the Gunners. This is down to the rise of Kieran Gibbs, who has been exceptional since he broke into the first team.

Monreal has managed to make numerous appearances from the bench this season but at 27 years old and in his prime, the Spaniard really needs to be starting games and could offer real quality to another team.

    4) Emmanuel Frimpong

Emmanuel Frimpong is another graduate of Arsenals impressive youth system.

He has gained Championship experience when he was on loan at Charlton and does have some Premier League minutes with Arsenal, Wolves and Fulham, before suffering a knee injury last season, which has hindered his chances breaking through this season.

The Gunners, as we know, have a packed out, impressive list of midfielders. So game time for Frimpong, when he’s fully fit, will most likely be limited.

Frimpong is still only 21 years old and a move else where, with a guarantee of first team football may be what the midfielder needs to reach his potential.

    4) Tomas Rosicky

Now one of Arsenals longest serving players out of the current crop of players, it’s fair to say Rosicky has had a good Arsenal career.

The Czech has endured a tough start to the season, impressing in the North London derby at Spurs, Rosicky then missed most of September through injury. The midfield attacking 3 of Ramsey, Wilshire and Ozil picks itself at the moment and add Walcott and Cazorla to that mix, when they return from injury; Rosicky may struggle for first team starts.

At the age of 33 years old, Rosicky is classed as a senior player and he most likely only has a couple more years playing time left. At his age he needs to be starting first team football every week.

What a rubbish post! So a cahmpionshiop and cup chasing side shouldnot have a strong bench? Arsenal have often been accused of not having enough experience on the bench now the mment we have one or two fit players that fall into that category they are now 'players who are wasted at Arsenal'? How old are you anyway?

Totally wrong about Rosicky, he's played almost every game he's been fit and was key & influential in both the Spurs game and the Napoli game just over a week ago!

All big teams rotate and any player of 33 years isn't going to play 2 games in a week.

All nonsense. Plush where is Park in this list!?

Nacho also shouldn't be here. Gibbs is the better player at present and he's backup. End of.
