Is Jack Butland ready for the Premier League?

The financial uncertainty surrounding Birmingham City is one of the worst kept secrets in football and the Premier League vultures are circling around to take their star players.

There was early talk of Nathan Redmond being the ideal capture from the West Midlands in the summer transfer window. The Championship is a gruelling challenge for any young footballer and the feeling has developed that it is too soon for Redmond to ply his trade in the top tier of the English game.

The entire spotlight has instead focussed upon England International Jack Butland and as he continues to flourish a move to the Premier League seems inevitable.

A question that is on the lips of many though is he ready? The goalkeeper certainly has a natural shot stopping ability and this is an excellent starting point for any club.

He is an option that could provide some youth and vibrancy that has been missing at a lot of Premier League sides this season. Pepe Reina has looked flat in recent times for Liverpool and they could do worse than look to find his successor in Butland.

Tottenham took the brave decision in the summer of buying Hugo Lloris with the long term view of the football club in mind. This purchase has all the same hallmarks and at a mooted £4million this could be a stunning purchase.

If you are still not convinced have a look at some of his highlights to date in the video below:
