Battle at the Lane: Tottenham vs Manchester United preview

There are not many fixtures that conjure up such exciting games as this one, and we are lucky enough to be able to witness from the comfort of our favourite armchair rather than weather the snow that appears to have no intentions in slowing up.

Although Spurs do not have the best records against the Red Devils, they managed to serve Utd a beating at Old Trafford with a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture in September, however Tottenham have not done the double over United in the league since the 1989/90 season.

With Sandro confirmed to be out for the season with a knee injury, Scott Parker is ready to deputise in the Spurs midfield whilst Emmanuel Adebayor is at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Utd are likely to start with the defensive pairing of Rio Ferdinand and Nemana Vidic as Jonny Evans is still struggling with a hamstring injury, and Nani could keep his place in the first 11 as Ashley Young has failed to overcome his knee problem.

We all know the power that United hold in attack as it has seen them to the table and are unbeaten in 12, a streak stretching back to mid-November, but Spurs have lost only once in 10, winning 7 of those.

Ryan Giggs is set to make his 650th Manchester United appearance, whereas Aaron Lennon is hoping for his 200th league career start, but probably the stat that most will be looking at is Robin van Persie has scored 65 goals in his last 77 league appearances.

    Can he make it 66?
