    Loyalty still exists

Roma midfielder Daniel De Rossi has put an end to months of speculation by finally signing a new deal with the outfit based in the Italian capital.

Born and bred a Roman, it was expected despite his loyalties to the club, that he would be seeking pastures new when his contract came to an end.

Luis Enrique appears intent on moulding a Barcelona style into Rome and whether De Rossi was going to be a part of that was open to question.

Yet, despite the huge financial incentives offered by Manchester City and Real Madrid, the midfielder has remained loyal to the Serie A outfit and put pen to paper on a new deal.

From a footballing and economical aspect, it seems stupid for the Italian to reject a move abroad, but there is that small characterstic De Rossi possesses, and that is loyalty.

Loyalty, a personality trait often forgotten in the current landscape of world sport, but one that no doubt increases the level of performance of a player, and encourages more supporter-player interaction.

Athletic Bilbao are a shining example of how relying on this can work wonders, considering they are the third most successful club in Spanish footballing history despite only choosing to pick players born in the Basque region.

Chairman need to start using the allegiance card more, rather than gambling with the often risky economical one.
