The Champions League goal of the night (Video)

Champions league nights are always a great affair. Even with only two Europa League places up for grabs of the four groups, it still made for excellent viewing, well, that is if you don’t support Manchester City or Arsenal.

21 goals on offer for those watching, but the best was surely saved for Jose Callejon. With Real Madrid already through, the result was hardly of the upmost importance. Nevertheless, Los Blancos showcased a footballing master class to bat aside Ajax with minimal ease.

A routine 4-1 win over the Eredivisie champions and it was no shock to see fans and pundits alike laud over Real. After a stuttering start to the campaign, the La Liga champions appear to finally be finding their stride, on the domestic front as well as the continental one.

While there are those that will salivate over Kaka’s strike, it was Jose Mourinho’s love child Callejon the deserved to win the goal of the night. The 25-year-old has never found himself starting regularly, but is one of the best impact subs within the game.

A rare outing from the off was rewarded for the youngster, who netted an exceptional team goal to make it 2-0 on the night. Bringing down a wonderful ball over the top from Luka Modric, the Spaniard did well to shake off his marker and fire past Kenneth Vermeer to put the tie beyond any doubt.
