Michu interest isn’t a surprise (Video)

More often than not, a new player coming into a new league takes time to settle, regardless of the calibre of the performer. Nevertheless, the arrival of Michu at Swansea City has all but confirmed that rule can indeed be broken.

The Spaniard arrived at the Liberty Stadium over the summer from Rayo Vallecano and has taken to the rigours of the Premier League like a duck to water. 12 goals and one assist in 16 Premiership games and it’s unsurprising that the 26-year-old is being touted as one of the signings of the season, despite it only being December.

On top of that, it has seen Atletico Madrid show a strong interest in the goalscoring midfielder. While Swansea manager Michael Laudrup will be eager to hold onto his prized asset, it will further bolster his position that the player himself has confirmed that he wants to remain in South Wales.

His performances have seen the Swans push up the Premier League table and despite the 4-3 defeat to Norwich City on Saturday, Laudrup’s side currently remain in 8th, a solitary point behind Arsenal, of whom they secured a colossal 2-0 win over almost 10 days ago.

Nevertheless, if Michu continues to churn out similar performances as the season wears on, summer interest wouldn’t at all be a shock. On top of that, it will become harder and harder for Swansea to hold onto the midfielder if he adds to his 12 goals already this season, with a platform comfortably set to easily reach the 20 mark.
