    Midfield Frenzy over in Milan

It's hard to rival Serie A in terms of the amount of transfer activity between the top clubs.

Over here it is stupidly rare for the top six sides to conduct activity between themselves, granted there may be the odd fringe player moving here and there, but apart from a couple of much publicised record transfers (Tevez and Torres) the mind struggles to think up many more.

Yet this deadline day has once again proven that the owners in the Meditteranean country are more than willing to negotiate with their rivals. With a particular focus today on midfielders concerning the two Milan sides.

Ex-Portsmouth star Suley Muntari has swapped Blue for Red in a late deal between the cross-city rivals, but he is not the only one.

Inter have snapped up Angelo Palombo from once great rivals Sampdoria, on top of capturing Freddy Guarin from Porto on-loan, with Thiago Motta leaving the San Siro all together for PSG.

Nesta, Ibrahimovic, Pirlo, Zambrotta, Vucinic-each of these are proof that the idea of a one club player does not really exist in Italy (Totti and Del Piero granted). Who could imagine Paul Scholes joining Manchester City? Or John Terry joining Arsenal? It's hard to envisage because it would never happen.

When the dust has settled tomorrow morning, don't be surprised if a splurge of late deals have occured among Italy's elite.
