Which manager to replace Redknapp next summer?

It is a well known fact that Harry Redknapp is the odds-on favourite to take over as England manager next summer. Current incumbent Fabio Capello will be stepping down following Euro 2012, should they make it to Ukraine and Poland.

The former Real Madrid head coach has been scrutinised following a number of lacklustre performances by England and while some papers believe Redknapp was asked to take charge following the less than impressive 1-0 win over Wales earlier this month, the Spurs manager denied the claim but admitted he would be interested in the role should it become available for him.

With that in mind, it is more likely than not that the former Portsmouth manager will be leaving Spurs next summer in order to take up the role, which will give Daniel Levy the troublesome task of finding his replacement. But who would be best fit to take over the prestigious club and help them progress from perennial top four contenders to title challengers?

    David Moyes

The Everton manager has worked wonders with the Merseyside club on a shoe-string budget. His sides in the past haven't exactly set the world alight but they have got results and often find themselves around the top 7 come May.

Could find it hard to reject the possibility of managing a team where he has money to spend and the chance to mould his own team. Whether he will leave Everton or not is another matter altogether but with the problems at board room level, coupled with the chance that Marouane Fellaini may be following Mikel Arteta out of the Goodison Park exit door, may see the Scotsman leaving sooner rather than later for pastures new.

    Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian manager enjoyed considerable success during his two-year stint with Chelsea and, despite a minor drop in form around Christmas last season, could still be at the helm at Stamford Bridge.

Nonetheless, the ruthless Roman Abramovich didn't want to settle for second best and despite Ancelotti picking up the clubs first League and FA Cup double in their history, was shown the door on the last day of the season.

Currently taking a year out of the game, Ancelotti has been linked with the position should Redknapp take up the England role next year. A fan of London however, was expected to take over at boyhood club Roma and speculation is still rife that he is holding out for the position, currently held by Luis Enrique.

    Gus Poyet

Somewhat an outside bet, the current Brighton and Hove Albion manager still remains a fan favourite at the club following his stint both on and off the pitch at White Hart Lane.

He has proven his managerial credentials in recent months, taking Brighton from the brink of relegation to League 1 champions and the south-coast club are currently performing admirably in the Championship this season.

However, one major stumbling block could prove the way the club handled Poyet and former manager Juande Ramos when the two were fired in 2008. Whether he would want to take the role with Daniel Levy still at the helm remains to be seen but with Brighton playing attractive football, his name is likely to be linked with Spurs should Redknapp take the England role, courtesy of his roots with the club.

In my opinion, those are the three main candidates should the position become available. Do you agree with the list? If not, then voice your choice in the comments below and by you think they would be the stand-out candidate for the position.

Like Gus but no way is he big enough or ready to take up such a prestige job. It's one of the best management positions in Europe so an equally high profile individual needs to be considered,
