Why: There were a few dubious United followers when Cantona made the switch from the club's rivals from Yorkshire; Leeds. He soon became one of the biggest names in European football as a result of his delightful, delicate pieces of skill, his aggression off the ball and the bucket-load of French arrogance that pumps out of him.

His displays in the famous number 7 shirt at United earned him the nickname 'King Eric' and his name is still bellowed out across all 4 stands at the Theatre of Dreams.
