Infographic: England's World Cup Journey

The World Cup is just hours away now, with Brazil tackling Croatia in the opening game of the tournament. The competition really is heaven for those interested in the sport, as it provides us with a solid month of competitive football and gives us something to fill the close season.

The usual hope that is aimed towards the England squad is certainly already there, but it is closely followed by a lot of negativity and 'what-ifs'.

Roy Hodgson's men will kick off against Italy on Saturday and I think it is crucial that we claim all three points. In my opinion, the Italians are the strongest in the group and if we can take them out of the equation, or at least dampen their chances, then I think the quarters will be there for us.

After that, I think it's a case of crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.
