Afellay to dodge the Premier League

Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay appears to have turned down Premier League suitors Arsenal and Liverpool by choosing to join Schalke.

The 26 year old has struggled for game time at the Nou Camp since joining from PSV Eindhoven last year and Tito Vilanova has sent the Dutchman on loan to give him more game time as he recuperates from a knee injury.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal had shown a keen interest in the winger, but it looks like Afellay has chosen the Bundesliga as he heads for talks with Schalke ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline.
