Southampton in for Phillips

Southampton are looking to boost their newly promoted squad by making a bid for Blackpool's highly-rated winger Matt Phillips.

Phillips impressed for the Tangerines last year as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs, and the 21 year old attracted interest from Everton and Sunderland.

Nigel Adkins' Saints have come up with a £6 million offer and such a bid may be hard for the Championship club to turn down, despite their resolve to keep hold of the youngster.
