    Champions Look To Bolster Defence

Manchester City have shocked Liverpool with a rumoured £13m bid for central defender Daniel Agger.

The Danish international has been receiving plenty of attention from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona and he has told new manager Brendan Rodgers that he wants to leave Anfield.

City had their bid rejected for the 27-year-old however it is likely that they will come back with a second offer.

It will be a big task for Rodgers to keep the big Dane after a disappointing league season despite appearing in two cup finals, winning the Carling Cup and finishing runners-up to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Agger moved to Liverpool back in 2006 from Danish side Brondby for £5.8m where he has made over 150 apperances in all competitions for the five-time European champions scoring nine goals in the process.
