Man U to win race for Sought after star

Manchester United are on the verge of signing the next big Danish star, beating a host of clubs in the process.

Christian Eriksen, who rejected the chance to talk to Manchester City last season, has been lined up after Ferguson earmarked him after last season's Champion's league game against Ajax.

Eriksen, 20, will cost in the region of 20 million pounds but would solve the play maker conundrum that has plagued the Red Devils for the past couple of seasons.

The signing would allow Wayne Rooney to play as a out and out forward, rather than having to drop deep to make things happen for his team.

Eriksen is believed to favour a move to Manchester United ahead of Zenit St. Petersburg.
