Ince unsure of son's Premier League move

Paul Ince has spoken in The Express of his ‘turmoil’ in regards to his son, Tom’s future.

The player came close to joining Liverpool in the January window and he continues to be linked with a return to the club where he spent three years as a teenager, without representing the first team.

If he does return to pastures old, Ince will join a select band, his father’s ex Liverpool team mate, Neil Ruddock, being one having left Spurs as a twenty year old after 5 games, he was then re-signed by the club 4 years later for a fee of £750.000.

In an interesting twist, Tottenham could be the team that prevent Ince’s move to Anfield. They too have been linked with a move for the attacker as they seek to strengthen their options out wide.

The paper reported that Ince snr who took over the reins at Blackpool in February said “It’s a hard one. You want to go forward and keep your best players.

“At the same time, as a father, you have to understand he has the ability to play in the Premier League.”

I’d put it to Ince snr that it’s not a ‘hard one’ at all. As manager of Blackpool Football Club surely any decision should be made wearing a manager’s hat rather than a parental one.

With his own future at the club already subject to speculation [he has been put in the frame as a possible replacement for Nigel Pearson at Leicester should the Foxes fail to gain promotion this season] this should hopefully focus his thoughts on doing what is in the best interests of his current employers so that if he does leave there is no scope for his integrity to be questioned.
