Mourinho drops a major hint about his next destination

Ah, Jose Mourinho. The man who labelled himself 'The Special One' is never far from the headlines - be it for his success or his controversy. In this case, it is the controversial speculation that could well lead to him achieving even greater success back in England's top division.

Mourinho is expected to leave Real Madrid come the end of this season, with the title race all but lost, and regardless of whether or not Madrid bring home the Champions League trophy.

In his (very successful) bid to attract attention and create suspense about his seemingly inevitable move, the Portugese manager was quoted as saying: ‘I have an adventurous spirit and do not know what will happen next season. ‘It’s not easy to choose a new destination after working in England, Portugal, Italy and Spain. Maybe I could return to somewhere I’ve already been. Watch out for surprises.’

Now the most obvious of these previous destinations is Chelsea, who recently have had yet another cash-fuelled squad overhaul following their double last season, in an attempt to play more attractive, attacking football. However, they have failed to mount a title challenge as they had hoped to do, and crashed out of the group stages in the Champions League, failing to even be given the chance to defend their title.

Who better to take the Blues' obviously talented squad and fashion them into potential world-beaters than the man who took the club to their greatest period of success? Having said that, the other major clubs he has managed are Porto and Inter Milan, and while they seem to be less attractive job offers than Chelsea, anything is possible. In that same token, Mourinho may simply be playing with the media's coverage of his potential move, and he could go somewhere completely different. One thing's for certain, though - he's got us all captivated by whatever decision he chooses to make.
