Transfer talk is a worry for Swans boss

Swansea manager Michel Laudrup has admitted he is worried transfer talk could disrupt his first choice centre back pairing.

Wales Captain Ashley Williams has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool whilst Spaniard Chico Flores is said to be a shock target for Bayern Munich.

“When there are rumours about these clubs wanting someone from here, it is because the player has done well.” Said Laudrup in quotes taken from The Daily Mirror.

It seems as though Ladurup doesn’t have his managerial counterparts on speed dial though.

“What can I do? I can’t call Arsenal and say, ‘Is it true?’ I don’t think Arsene Wenger would answer.

"We will have to live with these stories – it’s part of the game – but it means people have seen what we have done here.

“Ashley has had a great season.

"He and Chico [Flores, his fellow centre-half] have been a great pair. They are doing great together and I will be unhappy to lose that pairing for next season.”

Williams is thought to be valued at around £10m with ex-Swansea boss Brendan Rodger particularly keen on bringing the Welshman to Anfield in the wake of Jamie Carragher’s imminent retirement.

Arsenal are also looking at a range of defensive targets as they look to shore up a leaky back line.
