Lewandowski heading for the exit door

Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski played a big part in the club's two dramatic title wins over the last two years, but with a hat-trick of Bundesliga trophies pretty much out of reach now, he seems to be looking for pastures new (according to Sky Sports). His agent has confirmed that he will not be signing a new contract, which has 18 months left to run, and will most likely be sold during this period. The Polish striker's 14 goals so far this season have been incredibly valuable to his current side's challenge for a precious Champions League spot, helping them to their current 2nd placed standing.

The tall Polish international has been heavily linked to current favourites to land the title Bayern Munich (and by 'favourites' I mean 17 points clear at the top of the table). Their incredible record of 19 wins, 3 draws and a single loss, al whilst scoring a whopping 63 goals and conceding only 8 is a mighty feat. And there's plenty of the season left too. Bayern have been keen to ignore the current media speculation, and are yet to make a definite public confirmation or denial.

What we are left to wonder is where Lewandowski would fit into a Bayern side with not only good quality strikers, but very similar strikers too. Mario Gomez and Mario Mandzukic are both tall and strong, possessing a great aerial threat, and both Mandzukic and Gomez - currently struggling for playing time - are arguably better strikers than the Pole. Furthermore, would Dortmund really sell their best striker to the team who has just come back to take the title off them? Or will he move to United or Juventus instead, who have both been linked with potential bids? Whatever happens, it'll be an exciting saga.
