    Suarez future uncertain

The news that Martin Skrtel could be heading back to Zenit is pretty bad, if unlikely, news for Liverpool fans. But it would pale in comparison to their real star man leaving and according to the Daily Mirror Luis Suarez has raised fresh doubts over his future at the club.

Apparently both Real Madrid and Juventus are keen on the Uruguayan and will table bids come the summer, whilst Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested.

But until now Rodgers would probably have been hoping that Suarez would ignore the lure of these European giants as he had only last summer signed a contract with the Reds lasting until 2018. Unfortunately for the David Brent of football when asked by Spanish radio station Marca if they should "talk about his future again in June," Suarez stated bluntly: "Yes, we should talk this June or the next one, in 2014. My contract ends in 2018.

Suarez explained: "We will see at the end of the season what Liverpool's position is - we're not the Liverpool of old. We're coming out of a rough patch, but this is a transition period with a new gaffer and a different philosophy.

"The players enjoy how the manager wants us to play. All we need are the results and to finish in the Champions League spots.”

So is it top four or bust for Liverpool? If they fail to clinch a Champions League spot will their best players depart for sunnier shores? Will Pepe Reina ever be good again? And is Jay Spearing still alive? All these questions and more answered next week on Being: Liverpool… oh wait.

Unfortunately for Liverpool their season isn’t scripted and right now the Champions League seems a long way off. Daniel Sturridge may have to get used to leading the line on his own.
