      City target Ronaldo or Falcao

During the January window Roberto Mancini allowed Mario Balotelli to leave Manchester City for £20m without sorting out a replacement. He can still call upon the talents of Carlos Tevez, Serio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, but with Dzeko and Tevez’s futures at the club unclear The Metro are reporting that City are planning a big money move for another forward in the summer, which will be partly funded by the fee received for Balotelli.

Unfortunately for City that £20m, while seeming like a rather handsome sum to us mere mortals, will be a long way short of hitting the valuation on either of their reported targets; Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao.

Now the Falcao rumour has been doing the rounds for a while. It seems that the Columbian will have a choice between Chelsea and City come the summer while a move to Real Madrid has also been mentioned. Good, glad that’s sorted. Now we can move on to the more interesting, more expensive and unfortunately more unrealistic prospect of Ronaldo returning to Manchester.

Metro reports that Ronaldo is seemingly ‘unsettled’ in Madrid and City, along with PSG, are one of only two clubs who could afford the Portuguese superstar. As the paper say, the signing of Ronaldo would rocket City’s worldwide profile – funny that – but his previous six year stay at neighbours and rivals Manchester United as well as his apparently close relationship with the club could present something of an issue.

Altogether though Metro reckons that it’s likely one of the strikers will find themselves at the Ethiad next season” which is all rather exciting.
