      No new striker for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur didn’t manage to sign another striker on deadline day yesterday.

However down to the lack of drive and determination to sign a new striker it appears AVB isn’t concerned about the fact that he only has three recognised forwards as it has already been seen that the midfielders are more than capable in chipping in with a goal or two.

Spur’s main target Leandro Damiao was a possible deadline day mover but in the end the Brazilian international has stayed put with Internacional, well for now anyway.

A bid was tabled by Tottenham but not until just a couple of hours before the deadline on the day. Once the board of directors had met at Internacional they thought it was right not to let Damiao go.

The South American club has told Tottenham that they will have to wait until the summer and try again. But it is clear the club aren’t going to let their star striker go on the cheap and maybe the £20 million valuation will in the end be too steep for the North London club.

But at least if this deal fails then maybe the capture of Gary Hooper could be the option that Tottenham go for after the forward managed to stay in Scotland after serious interest during deadline day.

Trouble is, aside from the incredible Gareth Bale, our midfielders aren't really chipping in with many goals. I think Dempsey has got the most with 5 - which is hardly going to compensate for a lack of scoring strikers. Hiopefully Holtby can help on that front. Even Verthongen who looks a great defender has only managed one despite a reputation for scoring for Ajax.
