Manchester City looking for Cavani capture

It would appear that the Manchester City hierarchy are getting a little bit twitchy by the club's largely disappointing season thus far and it would seem they are ready to act in the only way they know how, by spending like its going out of fashion. The Daily Mail are reporting that the current target of their affection is £45 million rated Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.

Roberto Mancini has, on numerous occasions, pointed blame on his teams failings at the feet of his strikers, although figures of 8 league goals for Augerro, 9 for Dzeko and 7 for Carlos Tevez are hardly as dismal as Roberto might have us believe. In fact, you only have to look at City's scoring charts to see that there has been a distinct lack of goals from elsewhere on the pitch that has contributed to their demise. Of course Aguerro  has not reached last seasons peaks but with any player of his class his form will arrive sooner rather than later, so to state City are lacking up-front still looks a rather crazy statement.

Without question Cavani is a terrific player and one with a remarkable scoring record; he has netted 54 goals in 74 games after all the Uruguayan would undoubtedly be a hit at the Etihad, however the question is whether he would be the answer to their problems.

For so often this season it has been width that has been the champions un-doing as teams have been able to nullify their threat by making themselves tough to break down through the middle, whilst City have also looked lacking in midfield creativity without David Silva showcasing his top form.

Cavani would be a real signing of intent and no doubt be a huge success, however his arrival would unlikely address the current issues that Roberto Mancini is facing, and further to this it would also create further man management problems in terms of keeping his strikers happy.

So whilst it would look on paper a sensational signing for Manchester City it would be worth them weighing up what they actually need before they once again go all out a transfer assault.

It really is disgusting. If we're not top of the league lets buy our way up there again. Instant success by buying the best players at that moment in time is short sighted and will never create a legacy. Man CIty need to look at Utd. Build the club up now, they have the profile so sit back and grow it the right way. THe fair play law is just round the corner and they reported losses just shy of 100 million again. Ok it's down on last years but it's still vulgar.
