    Hornets hopeful over striker's future

Watford may have caught the attentions of football fans this season with their large number of loan signings, but there is one who boss Gianfranco Zola is particularly keen to keep hold of.

After watching him bag a brace in the Hornets’ 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest, Sky Sports reported that the Italian manager was full of praise for Matej Vydra, who has now scored 16 goals during their current campaign in the Championship.  The Czech striker arrived at Vicarage Road last summer and is now halfway through a season-long loan from his parent club Udinese.

Vydra is a Czech Republic international and, at just 20-years-of-age, his best years may well be ahead of him.  It is for that reason that Zola hopes the club will be able to retain his services, although the Italian manager does acknowledge that it may be difficult with interest from across Europe.

Watford are currently fourth in the Championship table, comfortably in the play-off positions and only a couple of positions from an automatic promotion place.  Should their success continue until May, they may just earn themselves Premier League football for next season.

That would surely be a huge boost in their chances of securing Vydra on a permanent deal, but will the Hornets manage it?
