Fulham look to make Madlung move

Martin Jol has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his sinking Fulham side in January and according to Sky Sports News, his first bit of business will be the signing of Alexander Madlung from Wolfsburg.

The Cottagers form has gone west at an alarming rate of late with the club picking up just a single win in their last ten games, a run that has seen then slip to just four points clear of the Premiership drop zone. Fulham were without doubt one of the big losers in the summers transfer window losing several key players and despite the signing of Dimitar Berbatov their squad is now one of the thinnest in the league.

With that in mind Jol looks set to waste no time in strengthening, with Madlung likely to be the first of several signings. The German would come to the Cottage with ample experience having completed over 150 games for Wolfsburg, whilst the fee is expected to be nominal given that the Bundesliga outfit are keen to trim their wage bill. Jol should also be able to judge whether Madlung could be of benefit to his club, given his time spent managing in Germany.

Madlung would require some time to get near match fitness given that he is no longer a first team regular with his current club, however with Fulham currently shipping goals like it is going out of fashion this looks to be a good move for Jol.
