City and Liverpool promise Walcott a central role

Manchester City and Liverpool are prepared to offer Theo Walcott a more central role, should either of the two Premier League sides prise him away from Arsenal, according to the Mirror. The England international’s current contract runs on next summer, with the Gunners keen on tying him down to a new long-term deal.

However, Walcott is currently stalling on signing with Arsenal as he looks to play a more central role under Arsene Wenger. The 23-year-old’s mostly been utilised on the right-wing under Wenger during his Gunners career, but the former Southampton ace is apprehensive about penning a new deal unless he’s guaranteed the chance to emulate Thierry Henry.

With Walcott stalling on the new deal, City and Liverpool are prepared to pounce of Arsenal ace, with the duo believed to be monitoring situations regarding his new contract.
