Mata calls for Chelsea to act on Cole future

Juan Mata has faced the media with high praise for Ashley Cole in an apparent attempt to snap Chelsea into action and offer the full-back a new deal.

Similar to Chelsea team mate Lampard, Cole finds himself the wrong side of thirty and into the last year of his contract. The ousting of Florent Malouda must surely be at the back of the squad's mind as Roberto Di Matteo might be tempted to let the troublesome Cole leave in a similar vein at the end of the season.

Juan Mata's new role as advisor to Chelsea football club has been kept under wraps until now and he will no doubt be an influential figure in the transfer dealings of the Stamford Bridge side. Or, maybe not.
