Black cats set to pounce on ex-Everton striker

Martin O’Neill is set to offer a contract to former Everton player James McFadden in hope the striker can rekindle the sort of performances that saw him become a favourite at Goodison Park.

The man with a mono-brow bigger than his all-time goal tally is reported to be desperate to resurrect his Premier League career, and has rejected moves to Motherwell and Aberdeen in order to find a club in Enlgand’s top flight, not that they’re huge offers to turn down!

He may not be everyone's cup of tea, and he will probably be dipping in and out of the Sunderland first team if he does manage to earn himself a contract, as the club have recently splashed out on Adam Johnson (winger) and Steven Fletcher (striker) in the two positions that Mcfadden can occupy.

Perhaps Martin O'Neill was just too scared to say no when the fiery forward enquired about a trial with the club!
