    Heskey of Oz

It's the news Liverpool fans will be devastated to hear: free agent Emile Heskey will be playing his football in Australia.

The former Aston Villa and Leicester striker is on the verge of signing a one year contract with Australian A - League team the Newcastle Jets. Free agent Heskey, 34, had previously been linked with Hull, Stoke and Norwich. Liverpool's striker problems are well documented and there were whispers after their failure to sign a forward that Hesky was in line for a return to the Merseyside club where he played for four years. And how we all would have laughed.

Heskey also has 62 England caps to his name and joins Robbie Fowler and Alessandro Del Perrio in the 'old footballers who decide to finish their careers in sunny Australia' group. The A-League begins in October and Heskey's signing is expected to be announced in the coming days.
