      Jamaica want Sterling switch

Despite promising early season performances for Liverpool, Raheem Sterling's call up to the England squad was something of a surprise. Apparently, one of the reasons for the 17 year old's call up was to stop Jamaica trying to recruit him to their national squad instead according to former Liverpool player Mark Walters.

Sterling, who was born in Jamaica but then moved to England at a young age, is reportedly of great interest to the Jamaican national squad as they look to raise their footballing profile. Those shrewd heads at England HQ, though, have offered Sterling, who was an unused substitute last night against Ukraine, a taste of international football already in the hope that he will pledge his allegiance to Queen and country.

There is an unfortunate lack of Jamaican footballers in the English leagues (maybe something to do with how good they are at sprinting) with Ricardo Fuller, who is quite the character, currently playing for Charlton in the Championship being the most high profile.
