Jol eyes up an inspiring number 9

The squad numbers for Fulham were announced earlier today with the all-important (in symbolic terms) number nine squad number left free, prompting speculation about who just might be the man to fill that shirt.

Who could it be? Well, the Daily Mirror's answer probably isn't one to inspire confidence in fans of the Cottagers.

Why so? Well, cos it's David Ngog.

The paper reports that Martin Jol is lining up a £3million swoop for the striker from relegated Bolton Wanderers with speculation rife that the Frenchman wants to leave after the club's demotion.

The Trotters signed the striker from Liverpool for £4million last summer and would probably want more money than the initial offer to let him go.

Fulham, long-term admirers of Jordan Rhodes, may have reserved the number 9 shirt for the Huddersfield hot-shot but that deal looks as if it may have fallen apart resulting in Jol looking at... other names to plug the gap. Names with 12 goals in 100 odd appearances in English football to their name.

    Inspired.
