    O’Neill to spend Gyan money

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has made Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Steven Fletcher his top target.

The Black Cats boss has been given the green light to move for the 25-year-old following the sale of Asamoah Gyan to Al Ain.

The England-born Scotland international is keen to link up with O’Neill at the Stadium of Light this summer following Wolves’ relegation last season.

However, the two sides are yet to come to an agreement for the striker, with Sunderland falling short of Wolves’ £10m valuation for the player.

Sunderland are eager to secure the signing of a new front-man ahead of the new season with the club opting against turning Nicklas Bendtner’s loan move permanent.
