Two Moor At Burnley


Burnley have confirmed the signing of Derby County defender Jason Shackell for an undisclosed for an undisclosed fee on a four year deal.
Reports from Sky Sports News earlier in the week had suggested the move was close to completion and The Clarets announced on Wednesday the the deal had been done.
The 28 year old centre back played in every league game for The Rams last season and deputised as captain while Shaunk Barker was sidelined with injury.
Shackell is experienced having preivously had spells with Norwich, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Doncaster Rovers and Barnsley.
Derby manager Nigel Clough said: “Jason has always been 100 percent professinal and a fantastic player to work with.”
“Although I am sad to see Jason leave, we have Jake Buxton, Tom Naylor and Mark O'Brien who have all proved to be more than capable at performing in the Championship.”
“We are also actively looing to bring in another central defender, and hope to make an announcement in the not too distant future.”
“I am sure that I speak for everybody at the club when I wish Jason the very best for his future career at Burnley – just as long as they finish below us in the table.”
Burnley manager Eddie Howe has also secured the services of winger George Porter from Leyton Orient.
Porter has signed a 3 year contract at Turf Moor after his deal with Leyton Orient ended. the O's are enttled to compensation with talks over a fee ongoing.
